备件规划的精髓是平很库存水平和服务水平。库存水平很好计算：是多少库存就是多少库存，不管是在库还是在途。服务水平也叫有货率，即客户要货的时候有货。服务水平听上去挺直观，计算起来则未必。行业不同，公司不同，计算方法差别很大。
